We left Brazil in a hurry and arrived in Singapore where we are planning one of our day trading centers.  It was great to get a feel for a city that has become one of the most important financial hubs in the world.

After so much hard work we decided to head to Thailand for some rest and relaxation.  One of the best things about being in Asia is the freedom the morning and afternoons.  The market opens roughly 11 to 12 hours later which is 8.30pm here in Thailand and 9.30pm in Singapore.  Nothing like enjoying this view in the morning.

Day trading in Jordan and around the world is one thing.  Day trading & traveling is a whole different picture.  We have been in Jordan for a few days now and have been able to see, eat, and experience incredible things. We are going to be headed to the lowest point on Earth tomorrow (again).

The dying Dead Sea is on the border of Israel & Jordan (or as others dispute Palestine) and is the saltiest body of water on Earth.  The winner of the contest also arrives tomorrow evening and we will being the one on one training once he gets settled.

Something else one may not expect is one of the most preserved cities outside of Italy.  The ancient city of Jerash is located roughly an hour away from the capital city of Amman.  The surprising aspect of the city is that roughly only 40%-50% of the complex has been excavated (our estimates).

The city that one sees in the background is where the Roman citizens used to live.  This is not included in that same analysis.  Just imagine the treasures to be found once they start exploring the region in the background as well.

The weather would no cooperate with us until a ray of sun shine peaked through the clouds.  The blue sky would come and go faster than Oprah’s weight.  This is one of the best pictures we were able to capture in the ancient city of Jerash.

Our first sand storm!  This is the day when Obama was delayed in Israel and traveled to the Amman.  He arrived in the sand storm that one may see pictured below.  The picture was taken from the same location on a clear day on the right. Extremely powerful winds!

The Amman Citadel is pictured below. A complex that sits at the center of the Amman that splits the city into North, South, East, & West.  The history on what can be described as a hill contains thousands of years of history.  One of the oldest cities in the world can be found in current day Jordan.

The locals played bag pipes which are very well known from Scotland.  The Oxford History of Music claims that the origins may have been from the Middle East thousands of years ago.  My current tour guide states that the origins are also from the Middle East as well.  Locals are always a case of awesome.

That ladies and gentlemen is a photographic recap of our stay in Jordan over the last the four days. One of the great things is that we have a member of the LTD Project that is the second WanderingTrader (that we know of) formally called the Trading Voyageur.  Many of our students that graduate from the training program are making money and also traveling around the world.

One upcoming trip that we are excited to hear about is the WanderingTrader family! A trader is taking his entire family to Sicily this summer.  We definitely are going to try to crash the party!  We also plan on updating the market recaps from last week once we stop eating falafels and hummus!

Day Trading in Brazil was one of the most unique experiences that I could ever have.  Of all of the countries I have had the opportunity to visit and trade from, Brazil by far is one of my favorites.

Rio De Janeiro is one of the most unique cities that one could experience in the world.

We started by renting a penthouse in an exclusive neighborhood in the Santa Theresa district.  It was something else taking a train to our front door every day.  Although unique with incredible views of the city, it took a minimum of 30 to 40 minutes to arrive at any part of the city.

No matter if it was the glorious beaches of Rio De Janeiro or to the supermarket, everything took forever.  After doing some day trading in Brazil with the LTD Project and Brice leaving we decided to look for a new home base that would be more centralized.

After living in Brazil I certainly have concerns about the future of the country as an economic power.  I also had concerns about finding a place a live with reliable internet.  Upon arrival at our penthouse we immediately identified a problem with the reliability of the internet.

A rule of thumb for us in Africa was to ensure to be in a country that was on the coast. Any countries in Africa that have a coast access will definitely have reliable internet.

With Brazil containing so much coastline it would be understood that anyone would be able to find reliable high speed internet anywhere on the coast. Rio De Janeiro, the 2nd largest financial district of Brazil and the new oil boom headquarters, would surely not have problem.  Boy were we wrong.

Before deciding on the move we had to purchase a plan with Regus to have access to an office in order to run our live market classes that are part of the training program.  Even at the office we didn’t have high speed internet.

It was fast enough to run our live classes but not what we would consider high speed in United States or Europe.

In the last year alone prices have almost doubled in the city of Rio De Janeiro.  Finding an ideal location to day trade in Brazil was no easy task.  Our first priority was to find a new home base that would have fast reliable internet.  In addition to that, we also wanted to be in a better location to enjoy one of the most unique cities in the world.

Day trading in Brazil was both about business and pleasure.

What we found was a great loft in the new arts district of Cinelandia.  Just a 5 minute walk from the metro (subway) where we could access nearby shopping malls and beaches.  It also was just walking distance from the party district of Lapa.  Here is an example of my daily life in Rio De Janeiro.

Bustling city streets during the day and quiet enough during the nights and weekends to not get overwhelmed. The one great thing about the loft was the lightning fast internet connection that the owner pays extra for.

One of the facets of Brazilian culture is the lack of a standard practice. There aren’t strict quality controls on anything so when business needs to get done it just gets done without thinking of the minor details. An example would be the electrical sockets.

Only recently has there been a standardized effort made in Brazil to use new uniform electrical sockets nationwide.  If one is going to access any of the current sockets throughout the current infrastructure there will be a healthy buffet of choices; the United States three prong, the European two prong, or the new Brazilian two/three prong.

The city and country are now preparing for the World Cup and the Olympics which will be held in the city. It seems there is an endless supply of funds being poured into improving every part of the city.

We did look for investment opportunities in Brazil in addition to the viability of opening a day trading center.  We are looking at the possibility of returning to Brazil for some time in 2013 to continue our plans for a day trading center in the country.

While day trading in Colombia I was day trading & travelling through some of the most remote regions of the interior of the country.  The reason for the trip was to not only see the Colombian coffee region but also to help a photographer with a video project he was working on.  The result is above.

This was an office at a photo studio and I  not only had issues with the internet, I also had an issue in trying to find a legitimate day trading office! The internet worked most of the times at the photo studio but you can see I have my Blackberry attached to the laptop to use it as a back up.  One of the things that I plan on talking about soon is trading off of 3g/4g mobile broadband services as I have extensive experience with this.

First world characteristics like fast and reliable internet I needed to make a living day trading

I have been sharing my stories since the beginning on my travelling & day trading blog at WanderingTrader.com.  Fast forward to today and I have been able to live in 10 countries across 4 continents and day trade in very unique places; the remote corners of Ethiopia & Somalia, Colombian coffee region, and one of my new favorite cities in Rio De Janeiro.

What led me to start day trading & tavelling in Brazil was the unique idea that we may be able to start day trading centers across the globe; Colombia, Brazil, and India.  Brazil was also the last major country I needed to live in South America and I couldn’t miss the opportunity of seeing the possibilities of opening a day trading center in one of the world’s leading emerging economies.

The LTD Project is also something that lead us to get the penthouse that you are going to see in the video below.  It is a bit soon to introduce Brice, the third and final member of LTD Project and I wanted to have the opportunity to train Brice personally.

What better way than to rent a penthouse in Brazil with Brice and train him in Rio de Janeiro?

The penthouse we rented was in the Santa Rosa neighborhood in Rio De Janeiro, a neighborhood that looked very attractive and one that I would highly recommend against living in.  It was absolute chaos to get in and out of the place, it took over an hour to arrive anywhere that we wanted to go since we had to take mass transit everywhere.

Every time that we entered and left the house we would always stop and admire the train service.  Who has a train service, in Rio de Janeiro of all places, that leads directly to the door of your penthouse that looks over the entire city?

It was a great experience and I plan on doing it all over again as I try to convince Brice to come with me to Ethiopia & London.  Soon I will start sharing my recent day trading & travelling trip through Peru & Chile and my day trading plans for 2012.

The only issues that I encountered day trading in Brazil was reliable internet access.  I even had to start a monthly plan with a company called Regus in order to rent office space so that I could have internet access to the run the live market classes that are part of the training program (I just announced openings if you are serious about learning how to day trade).  I had very high hopes from Brazil and didn’t realize that Internet would be a problem.

Considering the experience that I had day trading in Africa, the rule of thumb was always to look for a country with a coastline. Countries with a coastline typically have faster Internet since they are able to access the underwater sea cables much easier.  The rules in South America are usually the same as Bolivia and Paraguay are known to have questionable internet access.

 I would highly recommend any day trader to come and visit Rio de Janeiro, especially if you’re doing really well day trading.

The city now rivals the one that I call home, Medellin in Colombia, and the only difference between Medellin and Rio de Janeiro is the difference in the cost of living.  Rio de Janeiro is significantly more expensive than Medellin.

Day Trading & Traveling in Brazil

It will be possible to day trade on Brazilian exchanges and also find Brazilian day traders.  I chose Rio De Janeiro simply because it’s Rio, how else could you not say that you have lived in Rio.

I read about the island of Florianopolis being a gorgeous location and I am more than happy that I decided not to live there considering I was highly disappointed when I arrived (read more on my Brazil travel blog).  After being here for two months I have decided to embark on a new adventure but I will be back in Brazil soon enough.

I brought along fellow day trader and traveler, Brice, in order to take Brazil by storm.  He took his visa process by storm since we both didn’t consider that he needed a visa to arrive in Brazil.  I already obtained a 10 year visa, accidentally I might add, when I visited the incredible Iguazu Falls in 2010.

He ended up taking a million flights, more than a fair share of taxis, and visited nearly every country on the Western side of South America.  He also took one boat ride, just one.

Before he arrived I had the almost impossible task of finding an apartment for the both us that didn’t involve sharing a bed.  Accommodation in Rio De Janeiro is incredibly expensive and also hard to find, if you do plan on moving to Rio make sure you start your apartment hunt soon before you arrive.

Two days before Brice arrived I procured an excellent penthouse for the both of us to call our temporary control center in Brazil.  The Learning How To Day Trade Project in Brazil was born:

I met Brice while making a temporary stop in Medellin, Colombia.  Medellin happens to be one of my favorite places in the world and we immediately hit it off.  Brice trades stocks, a million dollar fund worth of stocks, and the idea was to train him to trade my system so he can make more money.

Apparently word got out that I have the biscuits and gravy when it comes to emini day trading.

We partied hard at Carnival in Colombia, discussed business over nothing else other than sushi, and the day I invited him to come to Brazil he purchased his flight.  We had a great time in the 3 weeks that we were together, some will be shared, the other some, not so much.  It’s going to be fun sharing all my day trading offices while I continue to day trade eminis in Brazil.

I’ll have more updates soon on how the networking and the plan is forming to get the day trading center up and running.  Since my day trading strategy is highly effective the idea is to train people to use my system and then have them help me train others here in Brazil.  Since I have a beginner’s system (see the most recent results) it shouldn’t be hard for many people to catch on. I will be taking a trip to Sao Paolo as I have realized that most day traders are located there, surprising considering it’s the largest financial center in South America (sarcasm).

I plan on staying much more mobile since Brazil is a massive country I plan on traveling around quite a bit and also trying to make it to my last two countries in South America; Ecuador and Peru. I would like to make it to the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island, Machu Picchu and the Brazilian Amazon.

World Underwater Sea Internet Cables

Everyone in the world is connected (especially Europe and the United States) and Africa is almost completely neglected.  There are a few massive projects that are in place to bring several new high speed fiber optic internet lines all around Africa.  I’m currently writing this post in Madagascar and can personally tell you this country is one of the least connected countries I have traveled to.  The only place that I found decent internet access was in the western coast, a city called Toliara.

With good reason too because you can see the new lines being laid below are directly to Toliara in Madagascar.

Understand that Day Trading in Africa will have a very unique set of problems.  You can find reliable and fast internet connections mainly on the coasts, once you head to the interior it will be hard to find a reliable connection.  Most countries in Africa are considered third world and the power and internet go off many times throughout the week.  There are ways around this in some countries but you want to prepare for this if you decide on day trading in Africa (click here to see my office in day trading office in Zambia).

I chose to live in Nairobi, Kenya because it is one of the most developed countries in Africa and it is also the financial center for all of Eastern Africa.  Kenya is also on the coast which I considered a prime location to obtain a good internet connection.  I could have chosen South Africa, which is the most developed country in Africa, or even Egypt or Morocco, which are developed in their own right.  I really wanted to go to on Safari, visit the newest country in the world in South Sudan, and visit Somalia (Somaliland to be exact).

Call me crazy I know!  They told me I was crazy when I took out $25,000 in student loans almost 10 years ago to start day trading and look at where I am now.  On the 27th I will be heading to Ethiopia to get my Somaliland visa and then I will be off to explore on the most dangerous countries on Earth.
